Seahawks come out of ugly pageant the victor, for some reason, recapped on Twitter
For the first time since we brought back the Twitter recap, the Seahawks have won. They did so amid continual controversy, and without playing incredibly. Nonetheless, the team pulled out a victory. To start with Marshawn Lynch has been in the news, Golden Tate had a hell of a day, and the Seahawks also played a football game.
Marshawn Lynch
Marshawn Lynch not likely to be back with Seahawks in 2015, per reports http://t.co/Lp7wtbXb4w
— Danny Kelly (@FieldGulls)
RB prospects Seahawks have definitely scouted: Melvin Gordon, Ameer Abdullah, Mike Davis, Duke Johnson, Buck Allen, Shaq Thompson.
— Jared Stanger (@JaredStanger)
I couldn't care less about the Seahawks running back situation in 2015.
— Casey McLain (@CaseyMcLainSays)
The thought that Marshawn Lynch likely won't be with the Seahawks in 2015 is some sort or revelation? Really?
— Curtis Crabtree (@Curtis_Crabtree)
is about that action in Seattle. But I’m told he’s not about talking. Very little-to-no communication with Pete Carroll & others.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet)
Golden Tate had a good day.
G Tate lovin life- got paid, is a #1 or #2 whenever the situation calls, got a ring, and is 6 and 2.
— DAVIS HSU (@DavisHsuSeattle)
About the game
haven’t lost three in a row since 2011, Pete Carroll’s second season with the team.
— Stephen Cohen (@scohenPI)
I expect Luke Kuechly will make a lot of tackles today for this shoji thin Panthers defense.
— John Morgan (@LesserNesser)
Looks like it's 77 degrees and sunny for kick today. The exact opposite of Dawgs vs Devils last night in Seattle…
— Liz Mathews 710 ESPN (@Liz_Mathews)
First Quarter
Paul Richardson is back deep for the kickoff.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
Seahawks go three-and-out on their first drive.
Wow, I'm hearing reports that Marshawn Lynch was "buried" on that last play.
— ken-drick lamarthur (@KennethArthuRS)
Carolina muffs ensuing punt, but recovers.
That ball bounced right to a Seahawks player, but it looks like Carolina came up with it.
— Stephen Cohen (@scohenPI)
Another loose ball that the Seahawks can't recover. Has been that way for them so far this year.
— Curtis Crabtree (@Curtis_Crabtree)
Cam Newton on a designed run gains eight yards, and a panthers first down.
Wow, Newton ran over Tharold Simon at the end of that run.
— Stephen Cohen (@scohenPI)
Bruce Irvin has to make that play in the backfield. Been a tick late all year.
— Dave Softy Mahler (@Softykjr)
Great pass to Jerricho Cotchery from Newton.
Newton perfectly places a pass to Jerricho Cotchery just out of the reach of Richard Sherman. Another first down.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
First down pass to Kelvin Benjamin.
Sherman and Thomas talking about the miscommunication on that 17-yard Benjamin completion.
— Jayson Jenks (@JaysonJenks)
Looking ugly early.
Offense bad Special teams bad Defense bad Great start
— Brian Nemhauser (@hawkblogger)
Newton sacked in the red zone to bring up 2nd and 17.
blow up that play! Newtown goes down for a 7-yard sack, credited to Earl Thomas.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
Cam Newton barely touched, flops to try to draw a late-hit flag, doesn’t get it. Forces fourth down.
Newton has to keep it himself and he is forced out of bounds short of the first-down line. will try FG.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
That was an adorable flop by Newton
— matthew eerieckson (@musingmatt)
Graham Gano good from 31 yards. Panthers lead 3-0.
Carolina with a FG and first points on the board. Lead the 3-0 with 6:21 left in first quarter.
— Liz Mathews 710 ESPN (@Liz_Mathews)
Seahawks again stopped without a first down.
Another third-down throw just in front of the fist-down marker.
— Stephen Cohen (@scohenPI)
Tharold Simon has a pass thrown basically into his hands, but misses the interception.
another dropped int. Unbelievable, honestly.
— Danny Kelly (@FieldGulls)
Another first down for the Panthers.
Newton and Olsen get the on misdirection. First down for Carolina.
— Stephen Cohen (@scohenPI)
About Percy Harvin.
New Jets WR Percy Harvin headed to lockerroom for injury treatment
— John Clayton (@ClaytonESPN)
Can Newton drags the Seahawks defense but is stopped short of the first down. Then gets the first down on a sneak on fourth down.
Cam are skrong
— matthew eerieckson (@musingmatt)
Newton takes it himself on a QB sneak. First down at the SEA 7.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
Second Quarter
The Panthers have four plays of at least 10 yards; the Seahawks don't have a first down in the first quarter.
— Jayson Jenks (@JaysonJenks)
On third down from the five.
Wow, 12 men on the field for the .
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
Jonathan Stewart loses seven on third down.
Great swarming defense by Seahawks on third-and-goal. Loss of 7 will force a FG attempt.
— Stephen Cohen (@scohenPI)
Another Gano field goal. Panthers lead 6-0.
Gano 26-yard field goal makes it 6-0 Panthers with 13;23 left. But could be a lot worse after two long Carolina drives.
— Bob Condotta (@bcondotta)
Paul Richardson with a 49 yard return on the ensuing kick, giving the Seahawks good field position.
Richardson injects some life into Seahawks with a kickoff return to the 47.
— Bob Condotta (@bcondotta)
Percy Harvin has zero touches from scrimmage and is injured already in New York. Paul Richardson just did that.
— Casey McLain (@CaseyMcLainSays)
I'm hearing reports that ever since that kickoff return, Paul Richardson hasn't been getting along with teammates.
— ken-drick lamarthur (@KennethArthuRS)
Then Richardson catches a first down pass.
Seahawks first first down.
— Casey McLain (@CaseyMcLainSays)
Russell Wilson attempts to pump fake, loses the ball throwing a pass in the middle of the field. Panthers recover as though it is a fumble, return for a fake touchdown.
Thomas Davis has been in the league for like 10 years but still thinks every pass attempt is just a fumble.
— ken-drick lamarthur (@KennethArthuRS)
Russell Wilson just threw a pass straight into the turf to alleviate Percy Harvin 's regrets. What a leader.
— Michael Tanier (@MikeTanier)
Seahawks stifled again, nonetheless.
Ricardo Lockette catches a fumble from Russell Wilson.
— ken-drick lamarthur (@KennethArthuRS)
Steven Hauschka good from 58 yards, but was good for several more yards. Panthers lead 6-3.
Hauschka 58-yard FG, but very un-Carroll-like to attempt a long FG instead of pinning team deep.
— Jayson Jenks (@JaysonJenks)
Steven Hauschka will be suspended on Monday.
— Casey McLain (@CaseyMcLainSays)
Seattle still with 30 total yards. Just two rushing.
— Liz Mathews 710 ESPN (@Liz_Mathews)
Malcolm Smith forces a fumble, yet again the Seahawks don’t recover.
Legion of fumbling fumbles
— Prometheus Brown (@prometheusbrown)
After evading at least three sacks, Newton runs for eight yards and another first down.
Inability to finish tackles again allows Newton to scramble out of serious trouble and pick up the first down. looking comical
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
Things still ugly.
How bout we just rewatch the Sounders match today?
— Kim Sharpe Jones (@seattlekim)
Legitimately playing like a pretty bad football team. Ninety seventh whiffed sack of the year
— Haunted Hauschka (@30AcreFortress)
Finally the Seahawks recover a fumble. Jesus.
And there it is, finally. Newton put the ball on the ground and Avril fell on it. Seahawks needed that desperately, to say the least.
— Jayson Jenks (@JaysonJenks)
More injuries could sink this team.
Malcolm Smith sustained a groin injury and his return is questionable.
— Seattle Seahawks (@Seahawks)
Wilson to Baldwin.
Wilson to Baldwin for 18… NICE CATCH!
— Seattle Seahawks (@Seahawks)
Robert Turbin absolutely demolished by Thomas Davis.
Robert Turbin was just destroyed by Thomas Davis.
— Curtis Crabtree (@Curtis_Crabtree)
Wow, HUGE hit from Thomas Davis on Robert Turbin. But right guard J.R. Sweezy is down on the field for the .
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
Utah State will have a memorial for Turbin next week.
— Sean Kramer (@SKramerWrites)
Doug Baldwin with a clutch third down catch, earning a first down.
CLUTCH. with an extension grab gains 14 to the 22 on 3rd down.
— Seattle Seahawks (@Seahawks)
First down pass to Jermaine Kearse.
Seattle to the Carolina 9 after pass to Kearse. Seahawks again moving well in hurry-up.
— Bob Condotta (@bcondotta)
Russell Wilson intercepted at the goal line by Josh Norman. Marshawn Lynch had the ball on his hands and missed it.
Lack of running option killer in RZ for Seattle…then again- Lynch had it hit his hands- that aint on RW.
— DAVIS HSU (@DavisHsuSeattle)
Interception was by CB Josh Norman, but really should go on Marshawn Lynch's stat sheet. Should have been a TD.
— Danny 710ESPNSeattle (@DDMon710)
Halftime
I think we all agree that the solution to the Seahawks' problems is instituting the Wing-T offense.
— Seattle Sportsnet (@alexSSN)
I'm to the point where I want defensive stops not for the sake of winning a game, but to avoid seeing that dicky Cam Newton first down thing
— Steve Sandmeyer (@SteveSandmeyer)
That was only the 2nd career red zone interception for Wilson, and not his fault. He had a 44:1 TD:Int ratio in the red zone entering today.
— Terry Blount (@TerryBlountESPN)
Half Stat: leads all receivers with 4 receptions (5 targets) for 44 yards.
— Seattle Seahawks (@Seahawks)
are not playing well, still. Biggest problem? Just 22 rushing yards through the first half.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
I'm not saying anything revolutionary here, but when you lose your starting C, TE and FB, it limits ability to "establish the run".
— Geoff Baker (@GeoffBakerTIMES)
the football players should be allowed to wear their halloween costumes during the game maybe they worked hard on them
— Cakemittens (@cakemittens)
Third Quarter
Brenton Bersin with a 49 yard return to start the second half for the Panthers.
— Seattle Seahawks (@Seahawks)
Malcolm Smith back in to begin the second half.
— Danny 710ESPNSeattle (@DDMon710)
Jonathan Stewart with a big run.
Malcolm Smith back in for Seahawks. Panthers already to the Seattle 37.
— Bob Condotta (@bcondotta)

… Newton with a shovel pass into the hands of Marcus Burley, interception Seahawks.
Yummy yummy blood.
— John Morgan (@LesserNesser)
Absolute HUGE play by Marcus Burley to get the INT.
— Sonics Faithful (@Jome20)
Did Newton get up, dance, and point the other way after the pick?
— Stephen Cohen (@scohenPI)
Injuries continue to pile up.
Carpenter is out with a back injury. Return is questionable.
— Bob Condotta (@bcondotta)
Defensive holding keeps the Seahawks drive alive.
get bailed out by penalty. Now have fresh set of downs at CAR 36.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
Russell Wilson had a sure TD if he hits Cooper Helfet. Throws a duck.
Wow, bad throw by Wilson to Cooper Helfet. Would have been a touchdown as Wilson throws it on the run. Sheesh.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
— Seattle Sportsnet (@alexSSN)
Wilson runs for about 15 yards, and takes a rare hard hit in the open field.
Russell Wilson isn't super fast. He's fast. But his bends and moves and vision are like no other quarterback.
— John Morgan (@LesserNesser)
Holding penalty on Luke Willson.
Flag down after Lynch picks up about 2 on an off-tackle run to the left. Gonna be holding on Luke Willson. pushed back 10y.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
Russell Wilson puts the ball on Luke Willson’s hands, but Willson his hit, and drops the pass inside the five yard line.
luke Willson not having a Good RZ sequence.
— DAVIS HSU (@DavisHsuSeattle)
Seahawks stifled again, after a rough red-zone sequence for Russell Wilson, Luke Willson, and kind of Cooper Helfet on accident. Hauschka good from 29. Game tied at six.
Another poor throw from Wilson. Behind Cooper Helfet.
— Curtis Crabtree (@Curtis_Crabtree)
Hauschka 29-yard field goal — half the distance of his first one — ties the game at 6 with 7:13 left in third quarter.
— Bob Condotta (@bcondotta)
Best tweet.
What you're seeing from Russell Wilson right now is the aggregate effect of a chronic lack of sleep. You all thought he was joking around.
— Seattle Sportsnet (@alexSSN)
After another near-interception, Panthers will punt.
Seattle brought pressure on third down and Newton threw it right to Wright, who couldn't hang on. But first Carolina punt of game.
— Bob Condotta (@bcondotta)
Richard Sherman back to take the punt return for Seattle.
— Curtis Crabtree (@Curtis_Crabtree)
Let's just skip down the totem pole a bit and let Jon Ryan return punts. Was a WR and track sprinter in college. Plus he's Jon Ryan.
— Seattle Sportsnet (@alexSSN)
Things maybe worse for James Carpenter?
James Carpenter was carted off the field because he's not a huge fan of walking tbch
— Haunted Hauschka (@30AcreFortress)
Russell Wilson shovel pass to Robert Turbin for 22 yards.
Wilson flips it to Turbin as escapes rush for 21 yards.
— Bob Condotta (@bcondotta)
Big run for Marshawn Lynch.
for 25 yards!
— Seattle Seahawks (@Seahawks)
Lynch dragged Harper so long he should've charged him cab fare.
— Steve Sandmeyer (@SteveSandmeyer)
Wilson fumbles for the second time on the series, this time on the snap. Carolina recovers.
Bad snap and Carolina recovers and Seattle's best drive of day ends.
— Bob Condotta (@bcondotta)
The ball fell out of Schilling's hand before he raised his hand
— Danny Kelly (@FieldGulls)
Bad snap? Seriously?
— Bob Stelton (@BobStelton)
Kelvin Benjamin plays football.
hey someone attempted and completed a pass on Richard Sherman
— Tom Wassell (@WassellSeattle)
Fourth Quarter
"Do you win in the first / second / third quarter? NO! Do you win in the 4th quarter?!" *feet shuffle timidly*
— Haunted Hauschka (@30AcreFortress)
This is the worst game of the day. And the Jets and Bills are playing eachother.
— Sean Kramer (@SKramerWrites)
Here’s a screen shot of the Seahawks’ fumbled snap. Wilson gets Schilling’s hands instead of a football: pic.twitter.com/XEr4vBu1mK
— Jeff Darlington (@JeffDarlington)
Cam Newton struggles and the Panthers will punt, though Kam Chancellor had a pretty decent shot at intercepting Newton’s last pass.
Good thing Cam Newton sucks now.
— Casey McLain (@CaseyMcLainSays)
Sherman with the fair catch at the 16. Seattle will start there, 13:16 left.
— Bob Condotta (@bcondotta)
Not sure what this is referring to, but Percy Harvin, everyone.
Percy. Harvin gets downs at the 2 on a kickoff return on a ridiculous trick play that was busted and seemed to have little chance
— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora)
Oh, this is what it is about.
Percy Harvin has already been infected by the . This is not a good kickoff return. https://t.co/kgd28DVf0o
— XFINITY Sports (@XFINITYSports)
Seahawks drive sputters.
Bad pass AGAIN by Wilson. He throws it at Jermaine Kearse's feet downfield. Fourth down.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
If that was an option route, Doug Baldwin mis-read coverage big time.
— John Morgan (@LesserNesser)
Not sure if that was intended for Baldwin or Kearse.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
Ryan's punt is fair-caught by Bersin at the CAR 8 — but there was no one there! scared of gunners?
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
Deer in headlights.
— Liz Mathews 710 ESPN (@Liz_Mathews)
LOL that reaction to the fair catch was classic
— Danny Kelly (@FieldGulls)
"You're watching the SEC on CBS"
— Sean Kramer (@SKramerWrites)
Seahawks can’t convert on a sack again, as Cam Newton escapes the grasp of Michael Bennett for a safety. Newton escapes the pocket and throws the ball away.
Unbelievable. Be exceptional, JUST ONCE.
— Haunted Hauschka (@30AcreFortress)
#$%&&;##:'bvxzzb!!!!!
— Steve Sandmeyer (@SteveSandmeyer)
Percy Harvin would have made that sack for a safety….
— D'Andre Tel Aviv (@TheMattHolt)
Michael Bennett slides off Cam Newton on what may have been a safety and Newton able to throw it away.
— Curtis Crabtree (@Curtis_Crabtree)
A long pass to Kelvin Benjamin into double coverage is complete. Benjamin was covered by Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas.
My word Kelvin Benjamin.
— Curtis Crabtree (@Curtis_Crabtree)
Wow. Amazing catch by Benjamin between Sherman and Thomas. Carolina to the Seattle 42.
— Bob Condotta (@bcondotta)
Sherman deflected that too. Awesome.
— Danny Kelly (@FieldGulls)
Brandon Mebane sacks Newton on 2nd and 9.
The Mebane Belly Roll. Finally, the bring down Cam.
— Jerry Brewer (@JerryBrewer)
Completion gets those yards back.
Gonna be a field-goal attempt after a 9-yard pass to Cotchery.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)

Wilson to Kevin Norwood for 10 yards.
Pass to Helfet and Norwood get Seattle to the Carolina 41.
— Bob Condotta (@bcondotta)
False start on James Carpenter.
Just as the Seahawks start to get some momentum, James Carpenter false starts. Penalties have killed Seattle this season.
— Jayson Jenks (@JaysonJenks)
Wilson runs for 14 yards.
Wilson takes it himself for a pickup of about 14. Gonna be second-and-1. Nice decision there — he had lots of room.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
Lynch for two and a first down.
Lynch picks up the first down with a 2-yard run. First down at the CAR 48. Clock ticks past 2:45.

— Casey McLain (@CaseyMcLainSays)
Russell WIlson hits TE Luke Willson for a crucial 23-yard TD score with 47 seconds remaining. Seahawks take the lead, 12-9.
— Seattle Times Sports (@SeaTimesSports)
A few minutes ago the Panthers wanted it more and now it's like, the Seahawks want it more. I'm confused, who wants it more?
— ken-drick lamarthur (@KennethArthuRS)
Russell Wilson on that drive: 4/4 passing for 53 yards; 2 carries for 23 yards.
— Jayson Jenks (@JaysonJenks)
Now that all is right in the world, it seems clear to me and all who have eyes that Brandon Mebane put this team on his back.
— John Morgan (@LesserNesser)
Panthers drive starts.
Please put all eleven defenders on Kelvin Benjamin.
— Connor Hutyler (@ConnorHutyler)
Near sack turned into incomplete pass. Again.
Avril got to Newton there, forced the throw-away.
— Stephen Cohen (@scohenPI)
False start on the Panthers.
False start by the receiver Jerricho Cotchery.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
Sack on Newton, courtesy of Bruce Irvin.
Bruce Irvin with a massive sack. That may be the best pass rush of his career. That was a sick move around LT.
— Curtis Crabtree (@Curtis_Crabtree)
That Bruce Irvin sack puts Carolina in a 3rd and 22 situation with 33 seconds left.
— Jerry Brewer (@JerryBrewer)
Irvin with another sack of Cam Newton.

— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
Game over. Holy poop did we need that. Seahawks can be a game out with an Eagle win today.
— Dave Softy Mahler (@Softykjr)
It's not over yet. Steven Schilling only has like a 80% completion percentage on his snaps.
— Jacs O' Lantern (@JacsonBevens)
They shoulda let the defense to the victory formation
— Prometheus Brown (@prometheusbrown)
