Seahawks beat Rams, secure No. 1 seed, recapped by way of Twitter
The Seahawks came into today’s game with the potential to take the No. 1 seed without an unthinkable tie in the Lions-Packers game. The Seahawks have a tiebreaker over the Packers and Lions, and in the event of a three-way tie with Dallas Cowboys and one of the Packers or Lions, the Seahawks had the No. 1 seed locked up.
The Cowboys did their part early, beating the hell out of the Washington Redskins. However, the Seahawks looked like they may not do their part in the first half of today’s game. The Seahawks went into halftime down 6-0, and struggling to complete drives. They had severely outplayed the Rams though, with only a Russell Wilson interception and a Marshawn Lynch fumble keeping the Rams in the game.
In the second half, however, the Seahawks took over. They caused two turnovers, including a pick six that saw Bruce Irvin score his second touchdown of the season. A Marshawn Lynch run and two field goals rounded out a fairly dominant Seahawks victory that was understated by a low score.
The Cardinals won, the Packers won, and the Seahawks will have a first round bye and home field throughout the playoffs.
Regarding the playoffs.

Regarding J.J. Watt.
JJ Watt is a superhero.

Guys, JJ Watt is only 25.
— Casey McLain (@TheCaseyMcLain)
JJ Watt makes Mike Trout look like Vin Baker.
— Casey McLain (@TheCaseyMcLain)
JJ Watt is having the greatest season in defensive line history. If he doesn't win MVP, no defender can. Do what's right, voters.

1st Quarter
St. Louis calls tails. Comes up heads. Seattle defers, so Rams will get ball first.
— Bob Condotta (@bcondotta)
Cunningham takes it out from about 8 yards deep, then thinks otherwise. Takes a knee and the Rams will start from own 20.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
Kam Chancellor lowering the boom early.
Kam Chancellor dislodged a pass out of the hands of Cory Harkey on the first snap of the game.
— Curtis Crabtree (@Curtis_Crabtree)
Seahawks stop the Rams on third down for a three-and-out.
Rams three plays, 9 yards, will punt. Walters deep.
— Bob Condotta (@bcondotta)
Guessing Seattle is going to be in fake alert for just about every special teams play of this game. Mostly base defense in for that punt.
— Curtis Crabtree (@Curtis_Crabtree)
It's a punt. A real punt. Walters calls for the fair catch and the Seahawks will start at their 22.
— Seattle Seahawks (@Seahawks)
Seahawks go three-and-out too. Ricardo Lockette with a stupid penalty on the punt.
Bad offensive series for Seahawks ends with Wilson sacked by Mark Barron. Seattle to punt.
— Bob Condotta (@bcondotta)
Ricardo Lockette ……. ran into Austin after the fair catch. That's one of the dumber penalties you can make.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
After the penalty, the Rams will start from midfield. Sheesh, Lockette.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
Rams have gained 30 yards in the exchange of punts to open the game. Will start this drive at midfield.

Seahawks stop the Rams on fourth down after a weird delay call on the first shot at third down. Rams line up for a field goal. Greg Zuerlein good from 33 yards. Rams lead 3-0.
Rams throw it away on third down but delay nullifies play and they get to try it again.

Richardson with a 32-yard kickoff return so Seattle starts at its own 30.

— Curtis Crabtree (@Curtis_Crabtree)
Aaron Donald battered James Carpenter early.

Wilson takes a big hit on a run.

Nice block by Carp sprung Wilson for that scramble. But Wilson takes a big hit.

Seahawks stall on third down, but go for it on 4th and 5, and fail to convert.

Turbin with another big run.
Turbo for 12.
— Seattle Seahawks (@Seahawks)
Marshawn Lynch takes a swing pass for a first down. Steps out of bounds, otherwise he may have taken it all the way.
Wow, Lynch could have taken that to the house, but he clearly stepped out of bounds. Got the first down, though!
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
Robert Turbin with runs on 2nd and 1 and 3rd and 1, barely gaining a first down.
Turbin 1-yard on third and one to give Seattle first down at Rams 44. Ran behind Tukuafu, who is playing a lot today.
— Bob Condotta (@bcondotta)
Russell Wilson pressured, scrambles, hit as he throws, pass is tipped by Paul Richardson attempting to make the catch and the Rams intercept it.
Russell Wilson with the pick as he throws away as hit hard by Robert Quinn. Rams have at it own 40. Wilson taking some big hits so far.

— Curtis Crabtree (@Curtis_Crabtree)
Figuring no fake coming on 4th-and-18, the Seahawks had their normal punt return on the field that time.
— John Boyle (@johnpboyle)
Marshawn Lynch fumbles on a screen pass. St. Louis recovers.
There's no question, that was the wrong time to call a fumble.
— Casey McLain (@TheCaseyMcLain)
St. Louis has made life hard on the Seahawks this season.
playing the rams is always the most annoying thing ever
— Danny Kelly (@FieldGulls)
Rams gain a total of zero yards, line up for a field goal. Greg Zuerlein good from 52 yards. Rams lead 6-0.
Zuerlein 52-yard field goal is good and Rams lead it 6-0 with 4:18 to play in first half.

Robert Turbin with a big pass reception.
Great block (or hold?) by Norwood on that play.
— Stephen Cohen (@scohenPI)
Then Wilson fumbles on third and one.
short on 2nd and 14 screen then Russell Wilson fumbles handoff on zone-read and loses 1 on 3rd down. Seattle to punt.
— Tim Booth (@ByTimBooth)
Three and out for the Rams.
Walters returns booming 55-yard Hekker Punt to the SEA 29, and have 43 seconds from there until halftime.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
Big pass down the middle, Rams offsides penalty that is declined stops the clock. Wilson sacked on the next play.
Wilson evades rush and hits Willson for 28 yards. Longest gain of day for Seattle. At the 37. 23 seconds left.
— Bob Condotta (@bcondotta)
After that sack, Wilson clocks it with 2 seconds left. But there's some discussion down on the field.
— Nick Eaton (@njeaton)
Referees review a fumble on the sack. Seahawks recover, but it takes about five minutes to figure out what the hell is going on. Rams call a timeout before the play, adding to the stupidity. The first half ends on pass to Doug Baldwin, but not a scoring play.
What the hell are we doing right now?
— Casey McLain (@TheCaseyMcLain)
Wilson to Baldwin covers 38 yards but is pushed out of bounds at the 8 as time expires.
— Seattle Seahawks (@Seahawks)
